Mrs L, whose home is a Grade II Listed property, contacted us to change existing 1980’s single glazed timber replacements with double glazed copies of the originals in order to help with heat retention. Following a meeting with Listed Building Control and Local Planning Officers we undertook a full planning application with proposals to mirror the original window profile, moulding and period detail but fitted with slim 11 or 12mm double glazed units made up with hand drawn cylinder glass.
The double glazed proposal was approved and the windows are now installed in this Listed Building. They display the original period detail that now includes wobbly/wavy glass effect, common to the original single hand drawn Crown glazing of the property. The double glazed units consist of the latest low emissity, soft coat, krypton gas filled with white warm edge spacers to help enhance the thermal insulation of the windows and property.
